How Long Does Solar Installation Take in Jamaica?

One of the most common questions new solar customers ask is: how long does the whole process actually take? From the moment you first contact Ecopower Jamaica to the day your system is producing electricity, here is the full timeline.

Step 1: Free Site Assessment (Day 1–7)

Once you contact us, we schedule a free site visit to your property. During this visit, we assess your roof structure, measure available panel space, review your JPS bills, and evaluate your electrical system. This typically happens within a week of your enquiry, depending on your location.

Step 2: System Design and Quote (Day 3–10)

After the site assessment, our team designs a solar system tailored to your specific usage and property. We prepare a detailed, itemised quote covering all equipment and labour costs. This is usually ready within 2–5 business days of the site visit.

Step 3: Order Confirmation and Equipment Procurement (Day 10–20)

Once you confirm your order and place the 75% deposit, we order your equipment. We maintain strong relationships with our suppliers and typically have equipment on hand or available within 1–2 weeks.

Step 4: Installation Day(s) (Day 20–30)

The physical installation is the fastest part of the process. For most residential systems, Ecopower Jamaica completes the full installation — panels, inverter, battery, wiring and commissioning — in 1–2 days. Larger commercial projects may take 3–5 days.

At the end of installation day, your system is operational and you are already saving money.

Step 5: JPS Net Billing Application (Week 4–12)

For grid-tied systems, Ecopower Jamaica submits your JPS net billing application immediately after installation. JPS approval typically takes 4–8 weeks. During this period, your system is already working — you are saving money through self-consumption even before the net billing approval is complete.

Total Timeline Summary

  • First contact to quote: 1–2 weeks
  • Quote to installation: 1–3 weeks
  • Installation day(s): 1–2 days
  • JPS net billing approval: 4–8 weeks after installation
  • System fully operational (day one): within 3–5 weeks of ordering
